For the all-new 09/10 CAPiTA collection we have refined our technical designs, shaping theories, and materials – once again setting the standard for freestyle specific snowboard construction

Core Compositions

The essence of each snowboard is its core. The core, in large part, will determine the overall characteristics of a given snowboard even before one sheet of fiberglass is laid across it. Each CAPiTA deck starts off with a full wood core, tip-to-tail, rail-to-rail, allowing for uniform flex, greater control of turn initiation, and incredibly fast response.

These special cores have been re-forestation certified by a leading environmental agency for nature and habitat sustainability. Made with a single species poplar grain extending from edge to edge and tip to tail they yield superior performance characteristics for energy and stability while offering the environmentally conscious consumer a sustainable alternative.

DS CORE + ENT

The DS core was built for high performance energy transfer. From razor sharp turns on demand, to huge ollies, the lightweight DS + ENT core was engineered with all-terrain technical freestyle riding in mind. The DS core is constructed with CNC milled ‘channels’ in the core that entrap air after being wrapped with pre-cured fiberglass. The trapped air is incredibly strong, making the DS + ENT 25% stronger than standard cores while reducing weight by 20%.

The DS SELECT core was built for performance. Lightweight, with no irregularities or finger joints, the DS core is constructed with the highest quality Poplar and Beech woods. Beech is placed along the rail and under foot, enabling the rider to hold a solid edge while carving, eliminating chatter at high speeds and contributing more power to ollies and landings. Poplar strips are fused with the Beech sections for flex consistency and vibration absorption. The DS SELECT offers a consistent, comfortable, and powerful ride.

SS Select Core

Engineered for “anytime, anywhere” performance reliability, the SS SELECT provides a perfect balance between energy and stability. Vertically laminated Poplar is lightweight and has a long grain orientation. There are no irregularities or finger joints allowing for consistent flex throughout the deck.

WDT ENGINEERED JIB CORE

A new technology developed for the 09/10 collection, the WDT core was designed to give jibbers and park riders the softer flex patterns they want. Short for “Wood Derived Technology,” the patented process of pressure bonding wood composite material retains the classic feel of a full wood core board while increasing flex values. Engineered for freestyle, park, and street rail boards, the WDT core has high elasticity characteristics surrounding low density wood fibers. This balance provides a new realm of lightweight, soft flexing boards, with a damp ride and dependable durability.

Fiberglass Configurations

In order to control the torsional and longitudinal flex of our boards, we use perimeter-weighted glass lamination to ensure the proper resin to glass ratio is accurately calculated. This process eliminates potential dry spots, preventing delamination and ensuring no weight is added from excess resin. All CAPiTA boards are made with one of five glass configurations.

Special Blend Evo Tech

The SPECIAL BLEND configuration is an optimum blend of triaxial and biaxial glass weaves. The triax is placed on the base side maximizing torsional rigidity and edge hold. The biaxial glass is situated on the top side of the board’s construction and works in conjunction with the bottom glass to provide Park Perfect™ longitudinal and torsional flex. Special Blend EVO is a wet lay-up process that uses a Polyurethane component requiring lower consumption of energy and yielding high technical properties. This adhesion process improves the factory working environment as it does not contain some of the same harsh chemical characteristics as other factory resins used around the world.

Custom Weave-E Class

The Custom Weave glass configuration consists of perimeter-weighted fiberglass placed on both the base and top side of the core with an exclusive epoxy resin system. This glass configuration borrowed from the marine industry yields stronger, stiffer qualities allowing us to decrease the wood core thickness. This means you get a lighter board while retaining the same high energy Park Perfect™ longitudinal and torsional flex.

Form 6 + Carbon

The Form 6 + Carbon configuration has all of the qualities of the Form 6, but with added carbon stringers to further increase torsional rigidity and response.

Form 6

• Charlie Slasher - POW FK

The Form 6 glass configuration consists of 612g/m2 biaxial fiberglass placed on both the base and top side of the construction at 0 and 90 degree angles. This configuration results in a board that initiates turns easily, while retaining the pop necessary to handle variable conditions. The Form 6 glass configuration is laid up wet by hand during the lamination process.

Pre-Cured 420

Engineered to compliment the WDT core construction, the “420” configuration consists of 370 grams of e-glass in the 0 direction and 50 grams of e-glass in the 90 direction. It’s pre-cured for consistency and exits the mold with a high yield of energy memory.

Base Materials

There are two basic types of base material used in our industry: extruded and sintered. If you don’t like to wax often, but you do repair your base when necessary, extruded is for you. If you are more interested in going faster longer sintered is your base.

Beeswax Modified Recycled Sintered Speed Base

These bases have very similar qualities to the WTR Sintered speed base, but are built using 100 percent recycled sintered speed base material. This is another new technology for 09/10 that provides the highest performance while allowing CAPiTA to be at the forefront of responsible manufacturing.

Wax Infused Sintered WTR

These bases are created by taking pellets of ultra-high-molecular-weight-polyethylene and compressing them though heat and pressure. The miniscule spaces left behind absorb wax and allow for extended periods of high speed shredding as the wax wicks to the surface while you ride. This prevents your base from drying out and keeps the surface feeling freshly waxed throughout the day. Properly maintained sintered bases are fast, durable, and the overwhelming choice of pro snowboarders worldwide.

HTP Extruded

The High Transparent Extruded base features an altered molecular composition allowing more vibrant graphic options while maintaining the low maintenance and technical benefits of extrusion.

Extruded base material is softer than sintered due to its lower molecular weight. This type of base is the easiest to maintain and excels in park attacks and urban jibbing. It repairs easily and when waxed, extruded base material will provide excellent performance

Sidecut

This attribute is the arc on which your board turns. All CAPiTA boards are made with one of three sidecuts.

Radial

Radial sidecut is a single radius design causing your board to start and tfinish a turn on the same arc.

True Progressive

A true progressive sidecut consists of two or more radii blended together to accommodate the three stages of a turn. They provide easy turn initiation, while offering greater control and stability at high speeds and maximum power when exiting.

Radical Taper

Built specifically for deep powder riding, this radial sidecut is complimented by a tapered tail. This narrower tail section naturally sinks in the powder while the wider nose section floats above the snow line. The result is less work and more fun as the board surfs on one smooth continual arc.
